Title: How to download and install Windows OS drivers

  1. From www.support.microtek.com, click on "Driver Downloads" and follow the instructions to download the driver for your Microtek product. You can also click on the link below to jump to the driver page, http://support.microtek.com/downloads/.

  2. After all files have been downloaded, examine the last three characters of the file(s) name (If you cannot see the full name of the file(s), you can right-click on the file and click "Properties" to view the full name). Once you find the last three characters, follow the instructions below that apply to you:

If the last three characters are "zip":

You will need a program to extract "zip" files. One of the most common programs in use today is Winzip. You can acquire a trial version of Winzip from the Winzip website. Windows XP also has a built-in program to open "zip" files. Refer to the program's manual for instructions on how to extract "zip" files. Once the files are extracted, double-click on setup.exe.

If the last three characters are "exe":

Double click on each file. A Windows Self Extraction window will pop up on the screen. Follow the on-screen instructions if applicable or click "Unzip". (Take note where the files will be extracted to. You will need to go to this location to install the drivers. The location may look something like "C:\xxx" where xxx is the name of the folder).

YOU HAVE NOT YET INSTALLED THE DRIVERS AT THIS POINT.

Go to the folder generated from the previous step and double click on setup.exe. Look for an icon of a computer with a blue screen and a CD. If you cannot find the file setup.exe, look for a folder inside named "disk 1" and search for setup.exe there.

  3. Installation will start once you double click on setup.exe. Follow the on-screen instructions.
